Samsung as India’s most trusted brand says report

The study has been conducted across 16 cities in India on 2505 consumers aged between 21 and 50 years belonging to SEC A and SEC B with a minimum annual income of Rs 2.4 lakh.

According to the report released by brand analytics firm TRA Research., Samsung has emerged as the most trusted brand in India in 2017. Samsung is followed by Sony and LG which are ranked second and third respectively in the list.

Compared to year 2016, Samsung climbed 17 ranks to get to the top spot, whereas Samsung Mobile’s, which was the most trusted brand of year 2016, have to bear the consequences after incidents of its smartphone Galaxy Note 7 catching fire were reported globally forcing the company to discontinue it.

Samsung’s 17-rank climb to top position and the 12-rank jump of Apple to 4th rank over last year are significant. This is the first time Apple made it to top 5 on the list.

Despite the exit of Cyrus Mistry, Tata which is the only Indian brand in top 5, held on to the fifth rank, followed by auto mobile companies Honda at No. 6 and Maruti Suzuki at No. 7.

Technology services and products provider Dell is placed at eighth, followed by Lenovo at ninth that moved up from 27th position last year, while Bajaj dropped to tenth position from seventh last year.

Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio, which was launched in September 2016, made it to top 20 list occupying the 19th spot. Brands like Samsung Mobiles, Nokia, Godrej, and ICICI Bank which were in top 10 last year, have slipped out of top 10 ranks according to 2017 report.
