RBI launches website to explain detection of fake currency

With a tagline ‘Pehchano Paise Ki Boli, Kyunki Paisa Bolta Hai’, the website — www.paisaboltahai.rbi.org.in — gives visual presentation with  pointers on currency notes of 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1,000 rupee denominations, that will help you to identify Forged note.  . According to RBI, total of 4,35,607 fake currencies we detected in 2010-11, mostly in form of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 denominations

Taking down the example of 500 Rs Note as shown in RBI’s  website. 

 

In this website RBI specifies the identification marks in number (1- 11) on Banknotes. When you click on the number each number identifies banknotes specification. The common  security features are:-

2.Watermark
3.Optically variable ink
4.Fluorescence
5.Security Thread
6.Intaglio Printing
7.Latent Image
8.Micro Lettering
9.Identification Mark
10.Year of Printing
11.See through Register

Consumers have the option to download posters of these currency notes, which can be used as reference to identify counterfeit notes. A documentary film on it can also be downloaded.

 Forged Note- A suspected forged note, counterfeit note or fake note is any note which does not possess the characteristics of genuine Indian currency notes.
